How to cook a perfect steak

  1. The thickness should be at least a half inch (about 1.3 cm).
    • If it's too thin, it will bend and will not cook evenly.
  2. Take out the meat 15 to 20 minutes from the refrigerator.
    • If the meat is too cold, the outside layer will be burnt without cooking the inside thoroughly.
  3. Sprinkle salt 5 to 30 minutes before cooking.
    • Salt removes unnecessary water from the surface, and makes the meat firmer.
  4. For cooking to medium cook 8 minutes.
    1. Pour some oil on the pan and heat 'til you see the first sign of oil smoking. Reduce heat so it doesn't keep smoking.
    2. Add more oil (4 tbsp) to cover the pan more.
    3. Use timer to flip every 30 seconds.
      • For well-done, cook about 10 or more minutes.
  5. 4 minutes of resting.
    • You shouldn't serve immediately. You must have the steak go through resting before serving. If it's served immediately most of the juice comes out. Resting allows the juice to distribute evenly through the steak.
