- drying and aging of wood outside (sprinkle them, so they're kept moist and prevent decay and staining)
- bathing of wood in hot water
Cleaning brush after varnishing wood
Make sure you only use the bottom portion of the brush since if the stain solution reaches the root portion of the brush it will be much more difficult to clean the brush.
Materials
- Mineral spirits
- Dish soap
- Water
- 3 disposable cups
- Paper towel
- Painter tape
Procedure
- Pour about 1/4 cup of mineral spirits in a cup
- Wash off the major varnish
- Pour about 1/4 cup of mineral spirits in another cup
- Wash off more varnish
- Pour about 1/4 cup of water with a drop of dish soap
- Wash off the varnish completely
- Try to dry off with paper towel and/or air dry
- Using painter tape, with the sticky outside facing out shape it into the original brush form
